Wedding in The New York Public Library

A Wedding at The New York Public Library

A Checker Cab. A perfectly-poured Manhattan. An artful subway mosaic. A late night supper at the Oyster Bar. As a born-and-bred Brooklyn boy, there’s a few things I consider quintessential New York. What they have in common is a timeless glamor that’s singular to my favorite city—reminiscent of a time gone by, yet still very much present. And a New York Public Library Wedding is about as classic NYC as it gets.

Whether you’re a literary aficionado or not, a New York Public Library wedding is a show-stopper—and one of my favorite places to shoot. From the iconic front stairs to the grand, swooping arches and concave spaces within, the classic Beaux-Arts architecture allows for simply stunning wedding photography. But I also love the juxtaposition of modern life outside, from the hot dog and falafel carts to New Yorkers on a mission swiftly passing by—also quintessential New York, if you ask me.

As a NYC wedding photographer (and beyond), I’m fortunate to have shot in some of the most beautiful venues. While each has its merits, few have the same impact as the NYPL. I can see it on the guests' faces as they arrive—a tangible sense of excitement and anticipation, each one ready to immerse themselves in celebration at one of the city’s most historic buildings. And that excitement only builds as it leads up to the bride’s entrance, making the moment truly unforgettable for the guests and the happy couple alike.

If you’re considering a New York Public Library wedding, I invite you to take a look at some of my favorite shots below, or check out Jessie & Craig’s incredible booked-themed wedding for a full experience. Or better yet, give me a direct call—I’d be happy to chat with you, answer any questions you might have, and help you create the quintessential New York wedding you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Cheers,

Dave

Insider tip: One of my most requested shots at the NYPL is an overhead exterior shot. It’s easy to see why—it’s an incredible birdseye view and makes for a gorgeous intro to the story of your day. The only way to get it is from the Andaz 5th Avenue across the street, which just so happens to make a great place for brides and grooms to get ready.
