What We Do as Wedding Photographers

""When a subject is made to feel totally comfortable, they feel free To be themselves. What results from this is the beauty of authenticity. One of the best skills you can possess as a wedding photographer is the ability to disarm and put people at ease. ""

—Dave

In-Between Moments

The in-between moments are special. For a photographer they take a little more work to find. Every wedding we document, we approach with the excitement of knowing that the day is like a treasure hunt, and discovering these moments is the prize.

Pretty Things

The invitations, place settings, rings, flowers, chuppah, shoes, lighting, love letters, grandma's kerchief, runner, chargers, The Dress! These accents all come together to tell a story of their very own. We love it all and it's important to us to take beautiful photographs that celebrate the time, thought, and care you put into every single detail of your wedding day.

Portraits

A great wedding portrait photographer understands that they are simply a guide. The best portraits aren't about having subjects acting out instructions to stand and 'act' just so. We believe that wedding portraits should convey more about you than us. That's why we do everything in our power to provide our family of clients the comfort, safety and freedom to let their guards down and just be themselves.

FAQ

Is Dave Robbins Photography the wedding photographer for me?

Choosing a wedding photographer for your big day is an exciting undertaking. It can also be a daunting one. With so many wedding photographers in NYC, how can you know who is right for you? I always say that it's 50% how the imagery moves you, and 50% how comfortable you feel with the person following you around with a camera on your wedding day. Dave prides himself on knowing how to put people at ease and make them feel comfortable having their photo taken. Our sole purpose as wedding photographers is to capture your greatest, most beautiful self by finding the moments that best exhibit who you are as a couple. We pride ourselves on our ability to do just that with the care, thoughtfulness, and comfort of a good friend.

Do you photograph Destination Weddings?

I travel worldwide and offer destination wedding photography for couples looking for exceptional photojournalistic wedding photography. There are few places I enjoy photographing a wedding more than NYC. Let's see, there's Italy, The Caribbean, Riviera Maya, Cartagena, the Cote d'Azur, Hawaii, Palm Springs, the Greek Isles to name a few. If you are planning a destination wedding, I have cameras and will travel!

What is your favorite wedding venue?

Quite honestly, my favorite wedding venue is any place where my clients are celebrating a special occasion. Location certainly plays a role in a photograph but to me, the most important thing is that there are people having a good time. That being said, here is a short list of some NYC wedding venues that come to mind: New York Public Library, The Rainbow Room, The St. Regis Hotel, The American Museum of Natural History, The New York Historical Society, The Carlyle, The Central Park Zoo, Tribeca Rooftop, Weylin, The Pierre Hotel, Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The list goes on and on and on.....

Do I need a wedding planner?

Wedding planners are awesome. I've had the great pleasure of working with many of the world's best. Whether you do or you don't hire a wedding planner, I am a free agent and will work with anyone.

Do you only photograph weddings?

While wedding photography is my passion, I do offer photography for all of life's celebrations. Mitzvah photography, family shoots, big birthday parties, intimate gatherings - if you celebrate it, we can bring our unique style of photography to tell your story and capture all of the joy.

Will I own my wedding images?

This is a great question and one of the most important to understand. When you hire us, you will receive edited, high-resolution digital files of your photographs. There is no buy-in or additional charge for you to have the images you've invested in us to take. As the photographer, we retain the copyright of your images. However, unlimited personal use and printing of your wedding photos is part of the deal. Important to note that we respect your privacy and will never insist on retaining any right to publish photos of you if that's something you're uncomfortable with. For the discrete clientele, NDA's are available upon request.
